Nowadays, not many games with any form of customisability leave out playable female characters, and Battlefield 1 seems to be no exception.
The Russian army will join the fray in the upcoming DLC, In the Name of the Tsar, which will also bring new maps, weapons and vehicles.
One of the major subjects of debate when it has come to Battlefield 1 is female characters, because there weren’t really that many women on the front lines of WWI. Most of the women of the world replaced men’s roles in the civilian work force when men were conscripted back in 1914-1919, while others were put in factories making munitions and vehicles, others nursed for wounded soldiers, etc. That is, except for in Russia, which brought a few thousand women to the front lines in the Women’s Battalions.
DICE hasn’t forgotten about their sacrifices, and has incorporated them into the new DLC which will release late this Summer. Players will be able to take the role of these new heroes through the Russian army’s scout class in-game.
Further information about In the Name of the Tsar will be released on (or around) June 10, when the EA Play event takes place.
